Game Day Cauliflower Buffalo Wings

Get your 'pub food' fix and feel great about it too!  I love these Game Day Cauliflower Buffalo Wings because they not taste amazing but they also have a number of health benefits. Cauliflower is a great source of vitamins and minerals, specifically vitamin C. I was surprised to learn that 1 cup of cauliflower provides about 75% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C.

Cauliflower is low in fat, low in cholesterol, low in calories and high in fiber. Win, win, win, win!

Like many veggies cauliflower also has anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic and antioxidant activity. They support heart health, gut health and maintain blood sugar levels.

It's not uncommon for veggies to lose their nutrient content when cooked. However, studies have shown that cooked cauliflower does a great job at keeping it's nutritional integrity, meaning that the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants etc remain in the cauliflower even after being cooked. In fact, cooking cauliflower is actually better for your digestion!

All that being said, these bites just taste really good and they make a great game day snack!

EAT UP!

Oven Roasted Whole Cauliflower

Roasted Cauli- White background .JPG

This one is for all of you who hate chopping, dicing and slicing because this cauliflower is roasted whole!

Not only is it super easy to make, but it adds a WOW factor to your meal, giving the impression that you have been slaving away in the kitchen all day. Little do they know you simply preheated the oven, rubbed on some seasoning and waited for the thing to cook.

I don't know if it's just me, but it's also way more exciting to have a big head of cauliflower to cut into at the dinner table rather than just another pre-cut roasted veggie on a plate.

I topped it off with a drizzle of Homemade Creamy Garlic Cashew Sauce- le pièce de résistance!

Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing

So fresh. So fine. Try making this crowd pleasing Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing for your next summer salad.

It can also double as a nice dipping sauce, a great healthy alternative to regular store bought creamy dips.

This dressing is not only a fresh pop of deliciousness, but it is also full of ... you guessed it: healthy fats, probiotics, vitamins, minerals ect. which help with digestion, inflammation and much more,

Real Peel Tip 1: omit the water for a more thick dressing/ dipping sauce or add more water to achieve a thin dressing.

Real Peel Tip #2: If you have the cilantro 'gene' and you hate all things cilantro since it tastes like soap in your food opt for parsley instead. I don't blame you, if I tasted soap when I ate cilantro I wouldn't like it either.

Best Ever Simple Guacamole

First off, I have to credit my mom for this one. She taught me how to make the perfect guacamole by keeping things simple. She is so right!  Avocados are naturally so creamy and delicious, why taint them with too many other flavours? This recipe highlights the avocado with a few key ingredients. It also ditches the blenders and the processors for a classic hand mashed consistency- just the way guacamole should be!

Go-to Homemade Hummus

One of my favourite snacks and a great way to sneak in some plant based protein!

Enjoy the hummus with fresh veggies, such as cucumber, carrots and celery, whole wheat crackers or whole wheat pita. It is a great alternative to many dips that contain a lot of vegetable oil and unhealthy fats. Also great to add on sandwiches as a replacement to high fat spreads like mayonnaise.
